Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Chairman of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan, has stated that they migrated to Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan but were pushed into Bhutto’s Pakistan.
Addressing a ceremony in Karachi, Siddiqui remarked that Pakistan alone is the motherland; provinces are merely administrative units and nothing more. He asserted that labeling the division of a province as treason is, in fact, the greatest act of treason, noting that today, all political parties are echoing their stance.
He highlighted that the urban areas of Sindh have faced the most exploitation. He recalled that the APMSO manifesto had called for a separate province a demand that has now become the voice of the entire nation and reiterated that the MQM’s primary demand is the creation of provinces across the country based on population.
He stated, “Give us our province, and we will implement Article 140-A ourselves.” He pointed out that they were prevented from tabling a resolution against ‘Sindhudesh’ in the Sindh Assembly, adding that there is no longer a need for lengthy arguments to justify why new provinces should be created.
Khalid Maqbool reiterated, “We migrated to Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan, yet we were pushed into Bhutto’s Pakistan.” He urged the authorities to first conduct a census and then honestly compile voter lists, noting that Karachi’s population now exceeds 20 million. He remarked that a state unable to conduct a census could hardly be expected to truly understand its people.
