Karachi: Misuse of power and the use of government authority for personal gain are crimes, but not at the Pakistan Customs, Karachi Airport Collectorate.
Several times, the business community has reported feeling depressed and has claimed that their successful businesses in Pakistan have been destroyed. The reasons are inflation, political instability, and corruption.
According to the government claim inflation is because of the international war situation, and political instability is just because of the opposition, especially one party. But the business community is asking why the government has failed to counter corruption and to control corrupt officers. Is it also related to international politics or due to the opposition’s protests?
Well, credible sources bring news of internal corruption at the Karachi Airport Customs Collectorate, where Collector Sadia Sheraz confiscated the non-disputed goods on the denial of paying a bribe.
According to the details, M/S Muslim Sons and Enterprises and Mossani Syndicate imports 70 thousands routers from China worth 15millions. After filing the GD and assessment process, half of the goods required a COC Certificate from PTA, and half of the goods were completely legal, and all the taxes and government dues were paid.
But Collector Sadia Sheraz confiscated the non-disputed goods as well, just because of the denial of paying bribes by importers. It has now been a year that the importer has been waiting for someone to help and get rid of this problem.
Importers seek help from FBR and other relevant authorities, but Sadia Sheraz is so powerful that even she ignored the letter from the Chairman of the FBR office.
