Karachi: No one will be able to be verbally offloaded by the FIA anymore.
The FIA Immigration has issued a commendable new 12-page standing order for airports, seaports and dry ports across the country.
Standing Order No. 07/2026, repealing the Standing Order of 2005, shall come into effect immediately and shall be reviewed from time to time.
The new standing order has also repealed the previous instructions regarding the general responsibilities related to the job description of immigration officers to the extent that they conflict with the new standing order.
The contents of the document make it clear that in the new system, immigration decisions have been linked to regular digital records, written decisions, risk-based assessment, officer responsibility and complete recording in IBMS instead of verbal proceedings.
