The apex committee meeting convened by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to review the security situation and terrorism threats in the province will be held today, in which Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and top military officials will participate.
According to sources, Mohsin Naqvi has reached Peshawar to attend the meeting. The meeting is likely to consider measures related to security arrangements and deployment of the army in 12 sensitive districts of the province.
It may be recalled that yesterday, after imposing emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the federal government made several changes in the administrative and security structure of the province, including the establishment of an 11-member advisory council for the province.
The establishment of a separate secretariat to oversee the administrative affairs of 12 security-sensitive districts, the deployment of the army in the province, the transfer of top police officers, including the Chief Secretary, and the removal of 57 officers from the Advocate General’s Office.
