Islamabad Police has intensified its efforts to curb the overcharging of passengers by public transport vehicles during Eid-ul-Adha. To ensure that citizens are not exploited by excessive fares, strict legal action is being taken against vehicles that charge more than the prescribed rates. In this regard, special squads of the Islamabad Police have been deployed at all bus stands and wagon bases throughout the city. These squads are actively taking indiscriminate action against violators. Furthermore, special checkpoints have been established on major highways, where drivers and conductors are being held accountable for overcharging, overloading, and any misconduct with passengers.
On the special directives of Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad, Captain (retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider, the Islamabad Traffic Police has implemented this strict crackdown in view of the large number of citizens traveling to their native villages for Eid-ul-Adha. CTO Islamabad has instructed all zonal officers to ensure that strict legal action is taken against any bus drivers and conductors found guilty of charging excessive fares. He emphasized that no leniency will be shown to those taking undue advantage of the holiday rush.
In addition, citizens have been encouraged to register their complaints at any time of the day by calling the Islamabad Police helpline “Pukaar” 15. Ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and providing maximum travel convenience to the residents of Islamabad remain top priorities for the Islamabad Police.
