In this March 2, 2015 photo, Klara Balogova is silhouetted against a window at a Roma settlement near Kralovsky Chlmec, Slovakia. Balogova was 18, penniless and pregnant when she rode thousands of miles from Slovakia to England to marry a man she had never met. Each year, dozens of women from the poorer corners of eastern Europe are lured to travel to western Europe for sham marriages with men who pay large sums because they want to live, work or claim benefits more easily in their chosen country and move freely within Europe. A matriculation student in Rawalpindi was allegedly raped multiple times by Naqash, who promised to marry her. The accused also made a video of the assault and used it to blackmail the victim, with his cousin Basit threatening to share the video online unless she complied with his demands. The victim’s father filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a case against the accused.

According to the FIR, the victim was introduced to Naqash by a friend, who later also pressured her to fulfill his demands after Basit started blackmailing her. The accused Naqash allegedly raped the student multiple times on the pretext of marriage and made a video of it. Later, Basit began threatening the victim, saying he would make the video viral if she didn’t comply with his demands.

The victim’s ordeal continued as Basit pressed for a relationship through calls and messages. When the victim shared this pressure with her friend, the friend surprisingly started pressuring her to fulfill Naqash’s wishes. The situation escalated when the victim refused to give in to their demands, and the accused Basit followed through on his threat, making the video public.

The police have taken action, registering a case and arresting one of the accused. The investigation is underway, with efforts being made to apprehend the second accused. The authorities have assured that they will take strict action against those found guilty.

The case highlights the issue of exploitation and abuse, particularly of minors and vulnerable individuals. It also raises questions about the role of friends and acquaintances in such cases, as seen in this instance where the victim’s friend introduced her to the accused and later pressured her to comply with his demands.

The incident has sparked concern about the safety and security of young girls and the need for swift action against perpetrators. The police are working to ensure justice is served, but the case also underscores the importance of awareness and education about consent, boundaries, and the responsible use of technology. As the investigation continues, the community is watching closely, hoping for a fair outcome and measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
