FIA arrested five police officers on charges of murder.

Sahiwal: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested five police officers implicated in a case involving torture and custodial death in the Sahiwal district of Punjab.

According to the FIA ​​spokesperson, the agency’s Sahiwal station conducted a major operation regarding the torture and custodial death case, arresting five Punjab Police officers in Okara.

The spokesperson stated that the operation was carried out by the FIA’s Sahiwal station under Case No. 07/2026, resulting in the arrests of Nazar Abbas (Sub-Inspector), Azmat Ali (Station House Officer/Sub-Inspector), Rai Manzoor (Sub-Inspector), Saifullah (Muharrar), and Irfan Ali (Assistant Sub-Inspector).

The case was registered under Sections 302, 34, 109, and 201 of the Pakistan Penal Code, as well as Section 9 of the Torture and Custodial Death (Prevention and Punishment) Act, 2022.

During the FIA’s thorough investigation, significant evidence emerged regarding the alleged torture of the detainee, his death in custody, and the alleged concealment or destruction of evidence, prompting legal action against the accused.

The spokesperson added that the arrested officers remain in FIA custody while the investigation and relevant legal proceedings continue. The agency is proceeding firmly, upholding the rule of law and accountability.
