Saudi Arabia has blocked 7,900 websites, while over 22,000 violations have been removed from several sites.
According to the World News Agency, the actions against these websites were taken as part of a crackdown on copyright violations in Saudi Arabia. This crackdown is being carried out under the Saudi Arabian government agency “Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property”. The Saudi government says that efforts to enforce the code of conduct set for websites will continue.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to play their role in efforts to protect intellectual property and report violations.
