Islamabad: Under the vision and directions of the Chairman CDA, joint teams of the CDA Sanitation Department, Emergency and Disaster Management and District Administration remained fully mobilized in the field during and after the early morning rainfall in the federal capital to provide timely relief to citizens, ensure effective drainage of rainwater and maintain smooth traffic flow.
During and after the rainfall, various areas of the city, major roads, interchanges, underpasses and low lying areas were continuously monitored. Immediate measures were taken on the ground to ensure prompt drainage of rainwater and address any difficulties faced by citizens.
Concerned officers and field teams continuously monitored the drainage operation, deployment of manpower, dewatering machinery and other arrangements. Special dewatering teams and machinery remained deployed at vulnerable and low lying locations to ensure immediate response in case of water accumulation.
In particular, Sector E-11 and other vulnerable areas remained under continuous monitoring during and after the rainfall. Relevant teams remained present on the ground to facilitate citizens, ensure safe mobility and maintain smooth traffic flow, while drainage operations were carried out on a priority basis.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Islamabad, along with all concerned Assistant Commissioners, also remained present in their respective areas in the field and directly monitored the situation on the ground. Officers of the District Administration remained in close coordination with the concerned departments and field teams to oversee drainage operations, traffic management and prompt resolution of issues faced by citizens.
Teams of the CDA Sanitation Teams, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), Emergency & Disaster Management and District Administration Trams worked in close coordination and remained active in the field. Obstructions from drains, storm water channels and natural watercourses were removed on an urgent basis to ensure the uninterrupted flow of rainwater and minimize inconvenience to citizens.
The CDA stated that providing maximum relief to citizens during and after rainfall, ensuring timely drainage of rainwater, safe mobility and smooth traffic flow remain among its top priorities. All available resources, manpower and machinery were deployed to effectively deal with any possible emergency situation.
Relevant teams were also directed to immediately reach locations in response to complaints received from citizens or reports of water accumulation. Continuous monitoring of the situation during and after rainfall was maintained to ensure timely identification and resolution of any emerging issue.
The CDA has appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall and exercise particular caution in low lying areas, underpasses and locations prone to water accumulation. Citizens can contact the CDA Helpline 1334 and Emergency Number 16 in case of any drainage-related complaint or emergency.
The CDA Sanitation teams continue to closely monitor the situation during and after rainfall and remain engaged in taking all necessary measures to provide timely relief to citizens, ensure effective drainage, facilitate safe mobility and maintain normal traffic flow and routine civic life.
The CDA reiterates its commitment to utilizing all available resources to make Islamabad cleaner, greener, more beautiful, safer and more citizen friendly, leaving no stone unturned in achieving this objective.
