Islamabad: The Director General (DG) of Audit has been removed from his post in connection with the matter of the report on document attestation at the Foreign Office.

A notification has been issued removing the DG Audit from his post and placing him as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD).

According to sources, the DG Audit was removed following the surfacing of a report regarding irregularities in document attestation at the Foreign Office; he had prepared this report and submitted it to the Foreign Secretary’s office.

Sources state that he was removed after the report became public; the report revealed irregularities amounting to Rs 12 billion. An internal inquiry report concerning document attestation at the Foreign Office had highlighted the collection of Rs 12 billion through illegal means over the course of a year.
