The Federal Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) have initiated a thorough investigation into the creation of fake Pakistani identity cards by Afghan refugees. This probe aims to bring to justice both the Afghan refugees involved and the government agency personnel who facilitated the forgery.

According to reports, hundreds of Afghan refugee families have allegedly obtained Pakistani identity cards and passports through forgery. These fake documents have enabled them to travel abroad and engage in various activities under the guise of being Pakistani citizens. Furthermore, some Pakistani citizens have been found to have falsely claimed Afghan refugees as family members to obtain identity cards, highlighting the complexity and depth of this issue.

The government has taken a stern approach, expanding the scope of the investigation to include records from union council secretaries and details of Afghan refugee children studying in schools and colleges. By doing so, the authorities aim to identify those involved in creating fake documents and bring them to justice. This move is expected to help uncover the extent of the forgery and the networks involved.

The investigation will likely examine the role of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the previous CNIC department in facilitating the creation of fake identity cards. The government may also seek to understand how these fake documents were able to bypass security checks and what measures can be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

As the investigation progresses, it is likely that more individuals and families will be caught up in the probe. The government’s efforts to crack down on this issue demonstrate its commitment to upholding the integrity of its documentation processes and ensuring that only legitimate citizens are able to benefit from the rights and privileges afforded to them. By taking action against those involved in creating fake identity cards, the government aims to protect the country’s security and maintain public trust in its institutions.
