FIA Officers Deprived of Promotions, Favoritism Towards Deputation Officer Continues

The recent appointment of Saadullah Khan Mahsud, a deputy director on deputation from NAB, as the head of anti-human trafficking and in-charge of Peshawar airport has raised several eyebrows within and outside the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Sources claim that despite his lack of experience in handling complex immigration issues and combating human smuggling, Mahsud has been given these critical responsibilities.

What’s even more surprising is that while FIA’s own officers are not being promoted from assistant director to deputy director, a deputation officer from NAB has been handed two crucial charges. Moreover, Mahsud’s deputation period from NAB to FIA has reportedly ended, but he continues to be retained and appointed to sensitive and technical posts.

This move has sparked concerns about the potential consequences of appointing inexperienced and allegedly favored individuals to key positions. Experts argue that only officers with extensive experience in immigration and human smuggling should be appointed to such roles.

The FIA community is expressing severe disappointment and outrage over this appointment, questioning whether it was made on merit or due to NAB’s influence. The public and FIA officers alike are demanding answers to these questions.

This development has further demotivated FIA officers waiting for promotions, raising questions about whether these appointments align with merit-based principles or are the result of external pressure. The matter warrants further investigation.
