Murree police allegedly entered the home of senior journalist Muqam Ahmed Khan in plain clothes, threatening him and his family over a civil case filed by his son Umar against Asad Shafi, who resides in the US. Khan’s daughter, Dr. Afirah Muqam, addressed a press conference at the National Press Club, stating:

  1. “Murree police officers in civilian clothes entered our house, threatening my father and us. They’re demanding we withdraw the civil case against Asad Shafi. If not, they’ll register a case against my sister and niece and remove them from the house.”
  2. “My father is a senior journalist and former member of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry. We’re seeking justice and protection from the blackmailing of Murree police.”
  • “DPO Murree and SHO Murree are fully involved in this harassment. We have CCTV footage of the incident.”

Khan’s niece added that the SHO and DPO Murree threatened them, saying if they held a press conference, they’d face consequences.

The family has appealed to the Prime Minister, Army Chief, and Chief Minister of Punjab for protection and justice, holding Asad Shafi, SHO Murree, and DPO Murree responsible for any harm caused to them.
