The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has warned that it has only one week of food supplies left in Gaza, and millions of people there are at serious risk of food shortages and hunger.

According to the reports, the WFP said in a statement that “we have about 5,700 tons of food supplies left in Gaza, which is enough for our two-week operations at most.” It should be noted that Israel resumed military operations in Gaza a week ago after a ceasefire break.

The United Nations said on Wednesday that the new Israeli attacks have displaced an estimated 142,000 people in just seven days. The United Nations has warned that aid deliveries to Gaza could be cut off in the coming days.

The WFP said that food security agencies “are unable to deliver new food supplies for another three weeks.”“Tens of millions of people in Gaza are at risk of hunger and malnutrition as all routes to bring in aid have been closed,” the statement said. “Israeli military activity has not only disrupted food supplies in Gaza, but also put the lives of aid workers at risk.”

Israeli officials say they launched new attacks in Gaza to pressure Hamas to release the group’s remaining hostages. Hamas has taken 251 Israelis hostage since the October 7, 2023, attack, of whom 58 are still in Hamas custody. These include 34 Israeli soldiers.

According to Hamas’s Health Ministry, 50,208 people have been killed in the Israel-Hamas conflict since October 7, 2023.
