WORLD PHENOMENA: Britain announces new immigration rules.

London: British Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has announced new immigration rules.

According to the new immigration rules, those earning 25,000 pounds per year in the social care sector will be able to apply for permanent residence only after 5 years. Earlier, such people had to reside for 15 years to obtain permanent residence.

According to Shabana Mahmood, those who come before May 2025 will be able to benefit from this facility.

The British Home Secretary said that the permanent residence requirement for other low-income workers has been reduced to 10 years, while those earning more than 50,000 and those working in health and education will be able to apply for permanent residence only after 5 years. Those with a criminal record, not speaking English, not paying debts and not paying National Insurance will be denied permanent residence.

Shabana Mahmood said that those seeking asylum legally will be able to apply for permanent residence after 5 years, while illegal immigrants will be able to apply for permanent residence after 20 years. The same condition will also apply to those studying or working in the UK. Those who are not employed or studying will have another 10 years to 30 years. The right to live in the UK will no longer be granted automatically, it will have to be earned through hard work.

According to British media, under immigration laws, a person with the right to permanent residence can stay as long as he wants, and also has the right to work and study. If he is eligible for permanent residence, he can apply for facilities and also apply for British citizenship.

Shabana Mahmood is concerned about the number of people eligible for permanent residence after net migration during the previous government. Shabana Mahmood has faced criticism within the government over the possible implementation of new laws on people already in the country.

Several Labour MPs, including Housing Secretary Angela Rayner, have described Shabana Mahmood’s proposed proposals as un-British. Shabana Mahmood argued that the aim of reforming the immigration system was to reduce the financial burden on the public.

According to British media, according to the Home Office, the population of the United Kingdom increased by 2.6 million people between 2021 and 2024. According to the Home Office’s forecast, 1.6 million people could settle in the United Kingdom from 2026 to 2030.

It should be noted that Shabana Mahmood is restructuring the same immigration system under which her parents came here from Kashmir.

According to British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, it is difficult to say whether the level of legal migration is too high or too low. Legal migration has decreased significantly. Net migration in 2025 was 171,000, which is half of the previous year.
