Kabul: The Afghan Taliban have arrested a British couple who have been running an Educational and skills center in Afghanistan for 18 years.
According to the international news agency, the couple’s children said that they have not been able to contact their parents and that the Taliban may have detained them. Even after the Taliban government was established in Afghanistan in 2021, the British couple continued their education and training programs. The Taliban had cooperated with the British couple’s educational centers in their early days, but now they have been arrested without giving any reason.
The children of the British couple said in a letter to the Taliban that their parents have always obeyed the laws and made Afghanistan their home instead of Britain. According to local media, the couple lived in the Nyak area of Bamyan province in Afghanistan and they also had Afghan identity cards.
An organization called Rebuild said that Taliban authorities first searched the couple’s house and then arrested and transferred them to Kabul. The spokesperson for the organization further said that the British couple later returned to Bamyan with a delegation, but it has been almost 17 days now and no information has been received about them.
