New Delhi: The most expensive wedding in Indian history went to no Ambani but former Karnataka minister Janardhan Reddy, who spent over 1600 crore Pakistani rupees on his daughter Brahmani’s wedding in 2016.

The grand event took place on November 16, 2016, and was attended by around 50,000 guests. The wedding celebrations lasted for five days, with the lavish arrangements being talked about across the country.

Janardhan Reddy booked 1,500 rooms in five-star and three-star hotels in Bengaluru to make his daughter’s wedding memorable. The wedding venue was inspired by the royal temples of the Vijayanagara Empire and was designed by expert art directors from Bollywood.

Brahmani’s wedding dress was also very expensive. She wore a red Kanchi Varma saree by renowned designer Neeta Lallu, which was worth 55 crore rupees. The saree was embroidered with pure gold thread, making it rare and extremely valuable.

Brahmani’s jewelry collection was also incredible. A diamond choker necklace worth Rs 80 crore, a diamond-studded maang tikka and a panchdala jewel, even her braid was adorned with diamond-studded jewels. Her total jewelry is said to be worth three billion rupees, while one crore rupees was also spent on her wedding makeup.

The guests were given a royal protocol at the wedding. 40 bullock carts and 2,000 luxury taxis were used to transport the guests while 15 helicopters were also hired to transport the guests.

Furthermore, This unusual wedding created a stir across the country, especially since it took place at a time when India was going through the demonetization crisis. Janardhan Reddy faced severe criticism for his extravagant spending, and several political parties raised questions about his assets.

Recently, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding is being described as India’s most expensive wedding, reportedly costing $600 million. However, Janardhan Reddy’s daughter’s wedding is still considered one of the most luxurious weddings in India.
