SHARM EL-SHEIKH: US President Donald Trump has described Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir as his “favourite field marshal” during a media interaction in Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.
Speaking to reporters, President Trump noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was present at the event, while Field Marshal Asim Munir was not. Turning to the Pakistani premier, Trump said, “Please convey my regards to Field Marshal Asim Munir.”
The US President added that he wished to see India and Pakistan live as good neighbours, expressing optimism about improved relations between the two South Asian countries.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, addressing a press conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, announced that Pakistan had nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his contributions to promoting peace and saving lives.
“President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize more than anyone else,” the prime minister said, adding that Trump’s leadership had “not only advanced peace but saved millions of lives.”
