Postmortem team member reopens debate over Sushant Singh Rajput’s death with unverified claims.
Roop Kumar Shah, who was part of the postmortem team that examined Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s body, has come forward with a new set of claims about the case, reviving questions that have lingered since the actor’s death in 2020. Shah alleged that Rajput had been strangled two to three times before being hanged, though he admitted there were no obvious external signs of strangulation on the body.
Postmortem team member alleges pressure
According to Shah, injuries around Rajput’s eyes and marks on his neck raised doubts about whether the death was a straightforward case of suicide. He said the actor had suffered three to four injuries on the left side of his neck, apparently caused by an instrument, with wounds he estimated at two to three millimetres in depth.
Shah also claimed the postmortem examination was carried out at night under pressure, rather than the next morning as would typically be standard procedure. He alleged that former Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze had pushed him to finish the examination that same night.
Beyond the postmortem itself, Shah described being held in custody for fifteen days afterward, during which he said he was tortured and threatened by masked individuals. None of these claims have been independently verified.
Fresh claims about Disha Salian
Shah extended his allegations to the death of Disha Salian, Rajput’s former manager, who died just days before the actor. He said a colleague who worked on Salian’s postmortem told him she had multiple injuries and marks on her body, including cuts on her lips, ears and chest.
He went further, alleging that Salian had been sexually assaulted by several people before her death. These claims, like the others, remain unverified and should not be treated as established fact.
Sushant Singh Rajput and Disha Salian deaths
Rajput, 34, was found dead at his Bandra apartment in Mumbai on June 14, 2020. Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a building in Mumbai’s Malad area, just days before Rajput’s death.
Salian’s father, Satish Salian, has repeatedly alleged a link between the two deaths and has demanded a fresh investigation into both cases. The Central Bureau of Investigation examined Rajput’s death at the time, but questions surrounding both cases have continued to fuel public speculation years later
