In July, inflationary pressures continued to mount across Pakistan, with significant price hikes observed in key sectors, according to a report released by the Bureau of Statistics. The most striking increase was seen in electricity and gas tariffs, which surged by 14.18 percent and 22.91 percent respectively.

House rents rose by 1.45 percent, while transportation fares jumped by 3.75 percent, further straining household budgets. The cost of medical care also edged up, with medicines becoming 1.6 percent more expensive, and increases reported in doctors’ fees, dental services, and diagnostic tests.

Basic food items were not spared either. Sugar saw a rise of 6.11 percent, and prices of sweets, desserts, and plastic-packaged products climbed by around 8 percent. The data points to broad-based inflation affecting both daily necessities and essential services, contributing to the growing financial pressure on consumers across the country.
