CAIRO: Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, has said that Doha continues to await a response from Israel on proposals for a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange, despite extensive mediation efforts.
Speaking alongside Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Cairo during the sixth session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee, Sheikh Mohammed underlined that Qatar’s diplomatic outreach had been conducted with the support of Arab and Islamic countries as well as in partnership with the United States.
He expressed regret that Israel has so far shown disregard for the initiative, stressing that the proposals were designed to ease the ongoing humanitarian crisis and create conditions for sustainable peace. The Qatari premier reaffirmed Doha’s commitment to continue its coordination with Egypt and regional partners to help end the war in Gaza and advance efforts for reconciliation.
