RAWALPINDI: A “Public Assembly” has been announced for Tuesday, October 14, outside Adiala Jail, where several political leaders are currently detained. The gathering is being organized under the leadership of Chief Organizer Punjab Alia Hamza, and is expected to adopt a series of resolutions addressing political detentions, judicial delays, and governance issues.

The assembly’s first resolution calls for the immediate release of all political prisoners, particularly former Prime Minister Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi, demanding that all “false and fabricated cases” against him be withdrawn and that he be provided justice.

The second resolution urges the judiciary to expedite the hearing of appeals filed by detainees, stressing that justice delayed is justice denied and that political victimization must end.

The third resolution strongly condemns the use of live fire and excessive force against peaceful demonstrators, calling for transparent investigations and accountability of those responsible.

The fourth resolution highlights public grievances, urging the government to take immediate and effective steps to address rising inflation, lack of access to justice, and alleged state repression.

The fifth resolution demands the restoration of the people’s mandate, calling for the resignation of the “non-representative government” and the transfer of power to the legitimately elected public representatives.

Finally, the sixth resolution expresses solidarity with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, affirming full confidence in Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, described as “Prime Minister Imran Khan’s chosen representative.”

According to the organizers, the assembly aims to send a clear message that the public stands firm for justice, democracy, and constitutional rights.
