Pakistan has invited the United Kingdom to join an independent and neutral international investigation into the Pahalgam attack. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made the offer during a meeting with the British High Commissioner at the Prime Minister’s House, where he briefed the envoy on Pakistan’s perspective regarding the recent South Asian situation following the Pahalgam incident.

The Prime Minister rejected India’s attempts to link Pakistan to the incident without providing any evidence and reiterated the call for a transparent and impartial international probe. He invited the UK to participate in this investigation.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the government’s top priority is the country’s economic development and that Pakistan will never take any steps that could jeopardize regional peace and security. The Prime Minister also urged the UK to use its friendly diplomatic relations with both Pakistan and India to play a role in improving the security situation in the region.

The British High Commissioner appreciated being briefed on Pakistan’s stance and stated that the UK would work with both Pakistan and India to promote regional peace and security.

The Pahalgam attack has led to heightened tensions between Pakistan and India, with India suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and ordering Pakistani diplomatic staff to leave India by April 30, 2025. In response, Pakistan imposed limitations on the Indian diplomatic staff and closed the Wagah border
