PTI Member of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination Committee, Sanaullah Mastikhel, has demanded a third-party audit of the Power Division and said that the matter should be investigated and the responsibility should be fixed.
The audit report of the Power Division for the financial year 2022-23 was considered in the meeting of the Public Accounts Committee. AGPR officials said that the Power Division could not use the grant of Rs 2.75 billion while Sanaullah Mastikhel said that it is regrettable that the Power Division could not use the grant in full, this is a project of national importance, write to the concerned Deputy Commissioner and obtain the land.
Shahida Akhtar said that Rs 900 million could not be used for the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone. The Secretary Power Division said that HESCO could not use the money due to right-of-way issues, the right-of-way issues of 10 HESCO towers were not resolved. Syed Naveed Qamar asked the question of whether HESCO sought assistance without approval? In reply, Hasnain Tariq said that the government can acquire land using its powers for national interests.
On which Junaid Akbar said that on the one hand, they say that there is a shortage of funds, then billions of rupees are returned for non-use. Khawaja Shiraz said what kind of governance is this.
Hina Rabbani Khar raised the question that the slowest projects running on financial assistance are of the Power Division, instead of improving the projects, problems have increased. The Secretary Power Division says that development projects were not given much priority in the Power Division, now this has been changed, now we have improved our system.
