Islamabad: An important meeting was held between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the current political and law-and-order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and possible steps taken by the federal government.
According to sources, the meeting discussed the overall political situation of the country, the reduction of tension between the federation and the province, and the issue of terrorism.
Similarly, sources said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman did not agree with the federal government’s proposed steps regarding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and took the position that such steps cannot provide any sure guarantee of ending terrorism.
Other sources said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized the need for political consultation, mutual consensus and taking all relevant parties into confidence to resolve the issue.
