The Pakistan Army has inducted the Z-10ME attack helicopters to strengthen its integrated combat response.
According to a report by state-run broadcaster, the Chinese company ‘Aviation Industry Corporation of China’ first showcased its Z-10 attack helicopter outside the country during the Singapore Air Show in February 2024.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir presided over the induction ceremony, and later also witnessed a display of the firepower of the newly inducted Z-10ME helicopters at the Muzaffargarh Field Firing Ranges. The report did not specify the number of helicopters.
According to sources, the induction of this effective system is a significant step in the modernization of Army Aviation, which strengthens its integrated combat response and improves its ability to take decisive action against potential adversaries.
In 2021, Defense News reported that China had sent 3 of its Z-10 helicopters to Pakistan for trial, but they failed to impress Pakistani authorities and were sent back.
However, former Australian Defense Attaché Brian Cloughley said that the Pakistan Army may consider evaluating the Chinese Z-10ME attack helicopter.
Further That, all-weather platform is capable of precision strikes during the day and night. Equipped with modern radar systems and advanced electronic warfare systems, the Z-10ME significantly enhances the army’s ability to deal with air and ground threats.
