One more subsidy- when will the government take a stand against the mafia?

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, deeply angered by the rise in flour prices, called an emergency video-link meeting and ordered that cheap flour and wheat be provided to the public at all costs.

The meeting decided to increase the quota of subsidized government wheat provided to flour mills at the rate of Rs 3,800 per maund, while it was agreed to provide a subsidy of Rs 10 billion to ensure the supply of cheap flour. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also approved the subsidy.

During the meeting, concern was expressed over the trend of artificial increases in flour and wheat prices in the market. The Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure the supply of cheap flour to the public at all costs and to utilize all available resources for this purpose.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that the burden of inflation on the people of Punjab is extremely painful; the government will use all resources to provide cheap flour to the people.

The Chief Minister clarified that the supply of cheap flour and cheap bread to the people will continue and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.
