Islamabad: Turkey and Saudi Arabia have decided to provide joint military forces and capabilities to Saudi Arabia, giving practical form to the Mecca Defense Alliance.
An emergency meeting of the Strategic, Political and Defense Committee of the Mecca Defense Alliance was held in Riyadh on October 5, in which important decisions were made. The Foreign Office of Pakistan issued a joint statement of the committee.
According to the statement, the committee has decided to take immediate practical steps on the collective defense commitments and provide joint military forces and capabilities to Saudi Arabia in accordance with the approved arrangements and the national legislation of the parties.
The statement said that the rapid deployment of military forces and capabilities in Saudi Arabia will be ensured, which will further strengthen readiness, military integration and the collective ability to confront threats.
The parties reiterated their commitment that the security of each party is an integral part of the collective security of the three countries. Translating the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement into practical measures demonstrates the credibility of the commitment to collective defense.
This strengthens the effectiveness of defensive deterrence and further demonstrates the unity and determination of the three countries to defend their security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The joint statement condemned in the strongest terms the attempt to target Mecca and Medina and the continuous attacks on Saudi Arabia’s cities, civil and economic facilities.
The parties reiterated their determination to unequivocally reject any attack or threat against the security and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan and Turkey commended the readiness and preparedness of the Saudi Armed Forces, and the statement also commended the professional capabilities of the Saudi Armed Forces to counter the threats and attacks facing the Kingdom and to protect the security and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.
The committee reviewed the results of the political and military consultation process held prior to the meeting and approved the recommendations presented. According to the statement, the Mecca Defense Alliance reflects the firm commitment to collective defense and a united stance to deal with threats.
