At D Chowk in Islamabad, citizens faced serious inconvenience as the Vehicle Emission Testing System remained non-functional due to a link outage from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Those who had arrived early in the morning to obtain their emission certificate tags were left waiting in frustration, as the process came to a halt.
A massive queue of vehicles stretched for miles near D Chowk, with drivers expressing anger and disappointment over the lack of arrangements. According to EPA representatives present on-site, the system link was down and a message had been sent to Lahore. Testing of vehicles would only begin once the link is restored.
Many citizens reported that they had been waiting since 5 a.m., only to be informed hours later that they would have to return the next day. The situation was worsened by the fact that the EPA had set up only a single booth for the entire process, leading to severe traffic congestion and long delays.
Frustrated citizens have called on the district administration of Islamabad and the EPA to take immediate action to streamline the process. They are demanding the establishment of additional booths, timely system maintenance, and better coordination to ensure that the public does not continue to suffer due to administrative inefficiencies.
