London – England – Former member of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Rashid Turabi has announced that a massive protest demonstration will be held outside the Indian High Commission in London on October 27, to mark what Kashmiris observe as a Black Day against India’s “illegal occupation” of Jammu and Kashmir.

The announcement was made during an All Parties Kashmir Conference held in Slough, a suburban town of West London. The conference was chaired by former Mayor Councillor Amjad Abbasi and attended by Kashmiri political and community leaders from across the United Kingdom.

Speakers recalled October 27, 1947, as the day when Indian forces launched their first military operation in Kashmir, marking the beginning of the ongoing illegal occupation. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue the struggle for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people and to expose India’s “illegal occupation” at international forums.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Turabi urged the Kashmiri diaspora in Britain to actively participate in the upcoming protest in London, saying it was essential to remind the world that Kashmir remains an unresolved issue despite UN Security Council resolutions.

Other speakers, including Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK President Faheem Kayani, Councillor Asim Naveed, Sardar Shakeel, Chaudhry Jahangir, and Raja Hidayat Khan, called upon the international community to ensure implementation of UN resolutions and to uphold the political and human rights of the Kashmiri people.

Councillor Amjad Abbasi, the former Mayor of Slough, said the Kashmiri community in Britain stands united with the people of Kashmir. He added that the Kashmir dispute has now become a global human rights issue, demanding urgent attention from world powers.

Participants reiterated that the struggle for self-determination will continue until the people of Jammu and Kashmir are granted their fundamental rights as promised under international law.
