ISRAELI ELECTIONS: Qatar strongly denies allegations of interference or funding.

by Shamshad Mangat

Qatar has strongly denied allegations of any interference in the recent Israeli elections or funding activities that could influence the election results.

According to a foreign news agency, Qatar has categorically rejected these allegations, saying that these allegations are being deliberately spread by some Israeli politicians and their affiliated media outlets.

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari said in an official statement on the social networking platform X that such baseless allegations cannot stop Qatar from continuing its mediation efforts and diplomatic and humanitarian work in the region.

It should be noted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition has increased pressure on Arab parties during the elections by making unsubstantiated allegations of alleged Qatari funding.

During this campaign, far-right politician National Security Minister Atmar Ben-Governor also called for the arrest of Arab party leaders.

The pressure comes as the chairman of the Central Elections Committee has ordered the Shin Bet to investigate allegations of foreign funding, even as a senior police official has dismissed the allegations of rigging as baseless. Observers believe the Netanyahu-led coalition’s campaign may be aimed at making it more difficult for the opposition to ally with Arab parties.

Far-right leader Atmar Ben-Governor said that if there is a legal basis, the Shin Bet should order the arrest of Arab leaders suspected of involvement in Qatari funding.

Similarly, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich wrote on X that “the leaders of Arab parties should be questioned by the Shin Bet today. The State of Israel will not be sold out to radical Islam with the money of terrorism.”

The ruling Likud party dubbed the matter the “Ramgate scandal,” claiming that “this is a political earthquake.” Israel’s elections have been stolen!’ Likud added that the opposition should not cooperate with the ‘United Arab List’ or ‘Ram’ to remove Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana following these allegations.

It should be noted that no evidence has yet been presented by government officials to support these allegations.
