Islamabad Traffic Police have intensified their enforcement campaign against traffic violations under the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Hamza Humayun, with thousands of motorists fined and hundreds of vehicles impounded in the past week.
According to the police spokesperson, a total of 1,585 vehicles and motorcycles were seized for serious traffic violations. Among these, 1,112 motorcycles and 552 cars were shifted to police stations for non-compliance with traffic rules.
The weekly performance report revealed 821 cases of lane violations, 114 for driving without a license, 2,552 for illegal parking, and 808 drivers booked for wrong-way driving. Additionally, 1,169 were penalized for traffic signal violations, 998 for not wearing helmets, 94 for lacking fitness certificates, and numerous vehicles fined for using fancy number plates.
A record 4,741 challans were issued against overloaded heavy vehicles, while 207 rickshaws faced legal action for entering the capital despite a ban on their entry. Using drone technology, police also ticketed 60 violators and provided awareness to 45 drivers.
CTO Hamza Humayun directed that the special enforcement campaign should continue without discrimination, stressing zero tolerance for underage drivers, unlicensed motorists, one-wheelers, and stunt riders. He urged citizens to cooperate with traffic wardens and demonstrate responsibility as law-abiding members of society.
