Pakistan has termed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement as misleading, saying it is one-sided and he did not mention the seven-decade-old unresolved Jammu and Kashmir dispute between the two countries.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, the spokesperson said in response to media questions on the Indian Prime Minister’s conversation with American podcaster Lex Friedman that India has assured the United Nations, Pakistan, and the Kashmiri people of a resolution of the dispute.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said that India’s “fictional narrative of oppression cannot hide its involvement in fomenting terrorism on Pakistani soil and its illegal state-sponsored repression in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Instead of blaming others, India should reflect on its record of targeted killings, insurgency, and terror planning in other countries’ territories.”

According to the Reports, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said in an interview that his country’s “every well-intentioned effort to promote peace has been met with hostility and deceit.”

However, Indian Prime Minister Modi expressed hope for peaceful relations with Pakistan in the future. He said regarding Pakistan that “we sincerely hope that wisdom will prevail and they will choose the path of peace.”

Pakistan’s Foreign Office said that Pakistan has always spoken of constructive and fruitful dialogue to resolve all outstanding issues, including the core dispute of Jammu and Kashmir. However, peace and stability in South Asia are hostage to India’s aggressive behavior and hegemonic ambitions.

According to the Foreign Office, “the anti-Pakistan narrative emanating from India is damaging the bilateral environment, which erodes the prospects for peace and cooperation. This trend must be stopped.”
