Islamabad High Court Summons FIA Official Over Alleged Unlawful Deplaning of Malaysia-Bound Traveler
The Islamabad High Court has ordered the Federal Investigation Agency official who offloaded a Malaysia-bound passenger to appear before the court, after the citizen challenged the move as unlawful.
Justice Ayaz Shaukat issued a written order following a petition filed by Muhammad Saad, who was stopped from boarding his flight despite holding a valid visa and a confirmed return ticket. According to Saad’s counsel, his client had completed all the legal requirements needed to travel abroad, yet was still taken off the flight without justification.
The counsel argued before the court that the offloading amounted to a violation of the petitioner’s rights and requested that it be declared illegal. He maintained that no lawful ground existed for denying his client boarding when every document was in order.
The court has directed the FIA to submit para-wise comments on the matter before the next hearing. It has also summoned the officer who offloaded Saad from the Malaysia-bound flight on August 12, instructing him to appear in person at the coming proceedings.
The case has been adjourned till September 4, when the court is expected to take up the FIA’s response along with the officer’s statement.
