Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir organized a dinner to pay tribute to the wise guidance of the political leadership, the steadfastness of the armed forces and the indomitable spirit of the Pakistani people during the ‘War of Truth, Operation Banyan Marsus’, which was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other political and military leaders.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army (ISPR), the dinner hosted by Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir was attended by the President and the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, federal ministers, governors, and chief ministers.
In addition, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, both services chiefs, top leadership of political parties, top government officials and senior officers of the three armed forces were also present.
According to the Pakistan Army spokesperson, the Field Marshal appreciated the foresight of the political leadership in the fight for justice, while also paying tribute to the determined role of Pakistani youth and media against the Indian propaganda campaign and termed them as an ‘iron wall’.
On this occasion, Field Marshal Asim Munir also appreciated the unparalleled professional skills and determination of Pakistani scientists, engineers and diplomats who proved to be very important during this conflict.
According to the ISPR, the participants at the dinner appreciated the sacrifices and courage of the armed forces, while the Field Marshal also appreciated the coordination of the armed forces in uniform.
