The Collectorate of Customs, Headquarters, took swift and prompt actions by suspending the licenses of 45 customs agents and issuing them with show-cause notices. An officer with a precious history was also suspended and investigations against him were initiated based on efficiency and discipline rules.

The special team proceeded to investigate the trial, leading to the arrest of three persons. Raids are in the process of apprehending other suspects. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has also launched another case in jail against the other customs agents for their involvement together with the appraisers and a couple of private persons.

The attempt is a harsh reminder to authorities on the issue of maintaining the credibility of the FCAS. The quick action of Customs shows readiness to combat the threat to FCAS, as well as assurance that the system does not fail.
