The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has launched a nationwide crackdown on drug smuggling, arresting 6 suspects and recovering a massive 2530.11 kg of drugs worth over Rs 204.9 million.¹ The operations were carried out in various cities across the country, including Chagai, Mastung, Hyderabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad.
Key Recoveries:
- Chagai: 2311 kg of hashish and 66 kg of opium recovered from an uninhabited area of Zakir Camp.
- Mastung: 105 kg of hashish recovered from a mountainous area of Dasht.
- Hyderabad: 18 kg of hashish recovered from an accused near a hotel.
- Lahore: 12 kg of hashish hidden in an accused’s travel bag recovered near Faizpur Interchange Jaranwala.
- Rawalpindi: 6 kg of hashish recovered from a vehicle near Chohar Chowk bus stop.
- Islamabad: 600 grams of opium and 540 grams of ice recovered from the possession of an accused, including a woman, near M-1 Motorway.
- Peshawar: 150 grams of opium and 1.850 kg of hashish recovered from 4 parcels sent to Lahore from a courier office.
The ANF has registered cases against the arrested accused under the Narcotics Control Act and has initiated an investigation. This crackdown is a significant step towards curbing the illicit drug trade and ensuring public safety.
