PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) leader Maulana Lutfur Rehman appeared before the Peshawar High Court on Monday, announcing that his party had challenged the election of the newly elected chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Speaking to reporters outside the court, Maulana Rehman said the JUI-F had decided to contest the legality of the chief minister’s election, terming the process “unconstitutional and unlawful.”
Meanwhile, the Peshawar High Court issued an order on a petition seeking the administration of oath to the newly elected chief minister, Sohail Afridi.
In its written directive, the court instructed the Additional Advocate General to ascertain the availability of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor for the oath-taking ceremony and to inform the court before 1 p.m. today.
