A female customer at the popular K’s Charcoal restaurant in Piplod, found a mobile phone hidden in the exhaust fan of the toilet and saw a video of herself recorded in it.
Police later arrested the restaurant’s 30-year-old sweeper, Surendra Rana, and recovered two mobile phones from his possession. Investigators found four indecent videos of customers recording themselves.
According to details,when the female customer turned to use the toilet, she saw the mobile phone hidden in the exhaust fan. She immediately called her friend and took out the phone. Seeing her own video in it, she reached Umra police station with a complaint.
Police went to the restaurant and arrested the owner of the mobile, Rana, who had been working there for three years.
Police said that another mobile phone has also been recovered from the accused. Upon checking both phones, the police found four videos that were made in the same way. The police have sent the accused’s mobile phones for technical examination and are trying to find out how long he had been doing this. It is also being investigated whether he sent or sold these videos to anyone.
The restaurant management issued a statement apologizing for the incident: K’s Charcoal is deeply shocked and saddened by this unfortunate incident. We strongly condemn this act which goes against our trust and values. Our own families also use the same facilities. We have decided to immediately start comprehensive screening of all staff again. In order to give our guests more confidence, we have decided that the restaurant will be temporarily closed until all safety measures are in place.
