The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the National Highway Authority (NHA) have announced strict action against illegal constructions and encroachments on GT Road. In a joint final public notice issued by both the Institutions, it has been clarified that all shops, buildings and other encroachments established on government land/right of way on GT Road should be removed immediately.

The notice states that legal action has now become inevitable due to failure to remove illegal encroachments despite repeated warning notices. The CDA and NHA administration has given 48 hours to the encroachments responsible and warned that if the encroachments are not removed on their own within this time, a grand operation will be carried out indiscriminately, which will include sealing shops and buildings, confiscating machinery and demolishing the encroachments.

The administration has made it clear that in order to ensure public interest and traffic flow, no pressure of any kind will be accepted in this operation.
