The matter of alleged illegal posting of an FIA official at the Quetta-Chaman border, huge bribery and alleged corruption of crores of rupees has reached the head of the Federal Investigation Agency, where citizen Samiullah has submitted a formal written application to the Director General FIA, demanding a high-level investigation against Inspector Idrees, who is allegedly posted at the Chaman border, and Naseebullah, the owner of the Quetta Toyota showroom.
A copy of the application has also been sent to the Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan, which has further increased the importance of the matter.
The petitioner has alleged that the posting of Inspector Idrees as SHO at the Chaman border was allegedly done by Naseebullah, the owner of the Quetta Toyota showroom, in exchange for a huge amount of money for his personal and financial interests, while through this posting, an organized system of illegal business activities, bribery and financial transactions is allegedly being run.
The application claims that Naseebullah and Inspector Idrees have also allegedly amassed huge assets through illegal means. In this regard, Naseebullah has been accused of buying a bungalow worth about Rs 100 million in Chiltan Housing, while Inspector Idris has also been claimed to have bought a bungalow worth about Rs 60 million on September 27.
The most serious allegation in the petition is related to alleged bribery. According to Samiullah, he has a video evidence in which Inspector Idris is allegedly seen receiving Rs 50 million in cash. The petitioner claims that the person who gave the money in the video is also confirming that he has delivered Rs 50 million to Inspector Idris.
The petition calls this video as important evidence regarding the alleged financial corruption and demands the FIA to conduct a forensic examination of it and determine its legal status.
Furthermore, the petitioner has also raised the issue of alleged unusual financial transfers of Rs 80 to 100 million through various bank accounts.
According to the petition, huge sums of money were allegedly transferred through accounts held in the names of Inspector Idrees and Naseebullah, various individuals and passengers. The petitioner has stressed the need to obtain complete details of these accounts, determine the source of the money and trace the alleged financial irregularities through a transparent inquiry.
The issue of alleged illegal collections from passengers at Chaman border is also an important part of the petition. The complaint claims that Rs 100,000 is allegedly collected from suspicious persons for releasing them, while Rs 50,000 is collected from ordinary passengers.
According to the petitioner, lakhs of rupees are being collected daily through these alleged collections, which not only raises serious questions of misuse of government powers but also raises serious questions of corruption in the border management system.
The petition has taken the stand that the powers of an important and sensitive institution like FIA are allegedly being used for personal interests, which is likely to damage the reputation of the institution and public trust. The complainant has demanded that a high-level forensic audit be conducted on the assets, properties, bank accounts, financial transactions and alleged bribe money of Inspector Idrees and Naseebullah, while video evidence and bank records should also be made part of the investigation.
Samiullah has demanded that a high-level investigation team be formed for a transparent and impartial joint inquiry into the matter, all relevant records and evidence should be preserved and if the allegations are proven, legal and departmental action should be taken against those responsible without discrimination.
Now the important question is whether the FIA headquarters and the Interior Ministry will take notice of this serious complaint and investigate the alleged illegal financial activities at the Chaman border, or will this matter be limited to official files like other complaints? However, independent verification of the allegations made in the application and the position of the relevant persons should be revealed.
