It has been revealed that the educational degrees of 27 employees of Karachi’s Dow University of Health Sciences have been proven to be fake, after which all salaries have been ordered to be withdrawn from the employees.
A meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of the Sindh Assembly was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Nisar Khuhro. The audit reports of Dow University for the years 2024 and 2025 were reviewed in the meeting.
The meeting was attended by committee members Qasim Soomro, Makhdoom Fakhar-uz-Zaman, VC Dow Medical University Nazli Hussain and other relevant officers.
According to the PAC statement, the meeting revealed that the educational degrees of 27 employees of Dow University were proven to be fake. The university administration has not yet been able to verify the educational degrees of 3,400 employees out of 5,350 employees with the Higher Education Commission.
The PAC ordered the collection of all salaries from 27 employees of Dow University after the fake degrees were proven. While a report was sought from all government universities regarding the verification of degrees of academic staff and employees.
The university’s Director of Finance told the meeting that the process of verifying the degrees of Dow University employees through hacking has been outsourced and a contract has been signed with HRSG Company for Rs 7.36 million.
He said that out of the total 5,350 employees of Dow University, the degrees of 1,945 employees have been verified, out of which the academic degrees of 27 employees were found to be fake.
According to the university’s Director of Finance, 27 employees who were found to have fake degrees have been dismissed from their jobs.
