Islamabad: A serious case of alleged extortion and violence has come to light in a cafe located in Sector E-11 Markaz within the limits of Shalimar Police Station, where the victim cafe manager Khurram Shahzad has accused six youths of forcibly entering, demanding extortion, threatening and torturing them.

It has also been claimed that the alleged CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced, after which the demand for a transparent investigation into the incident and action against those responsible has gained momentum.

According to the victim citizen Khurram Shahzad, six youths allegedly forcibly entered the cafe and threatened them with serious consequences while demanding extortion. It is alleged that the youths started misbehaving with the cafe staff when their demand was not met. When Khurram Shahzad tried to stop them, he was also allegedly tortured, while the accused fled the scene.

Khurram Shahzad says that after the incident, he filed a complaint against the accused at Shalimar police station and also approached PIMS Hospital for a medical examination. The aggrieved party has alleged that a case has not been registered yet and the named accused have not been arrested. They also claim that there is an obstacle in obtaining the medical report, the reasons for which need to be independently verified.

The incident has raised important questions regarding the safety of citizens, law and order in business centers and the prompt response of the police to complaints of alleged extortion. If the allegations of the petitioner are proven true, the matter is not limited to a mere fight but also requires protection of businessmen from alleged threats and violence.

The affected citizen has demanded that Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, IG Islamabad and top police officials take immediate notice of the incident, conduct an investigation based on CCTV footage and available evidence, make the medical report transparent and take action against the responsible persons as per the law.

Now it remains to be seen what action the Shalimar police station takes on this request, when the facts based on the alleged CCTV footage will be brought to light and when practical steps will be taken to provide justice to Khurram Shahzad.
