Eight personnel deployed on the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier attempted suicide during the Iran-Iraq War. The US media has made this claim based on a letter written by the acting Secretary of the Navy.

However, the US media has also clarified in its report that no personnel killed themselves during the deployment.
