Over 300 text and video messages have been recovered from the mobile phone of Indian youth Badal Babu, who entered Pakistan illegally. These messages were exchanged with Pakistani girl Sana Rani.
Badal Babu’s lawyer Fayyaz Ramey said that he has requested the court to allow Badal Babu to talk to his parents again on video call. He also said that he had filed an application in which permission was sought to conduct a legal interview with Badal Babu. The lawyer stressed that Badal Babu was not forced to convert to Islam and neither is he an agent.
Fayyaz Ramey said that he has also filed an application against Sana Rani, in which it is said that Sana Rani had trapped Badal Babu and called him to Pakistan. According to the lawyer, Sana Rani should be included in the incidents with Badal Babu and should be investigated.
A boy named Usman, who lived with Badal Babu in Islamabad, has also been investigated. More than 300 text and video messages between Badal Babu and Sana Rani have been recovered from Usman’s mobile phone. These messages show the contact between Sana Rani and Badal Babu and also make it clear that Badal Babu came to Pakistan only on Sana Rani’s invitation.
Fayyaz Rame said that law enforcement agencies are also investigating the matter and they will fully cooperate with them. He said that their aim is that Badal Babu gets a fair trial on humane grounds. If it is proven that he came to Pakistan illegally for love, then they will try to get him the minimum punishment and he can return to his country.
It may be recalled that Badal Babu, a resident of the Indian state of Aligarh, had illegally crossed the border and entered Pakistan. He was arrested on January 1, 2025, from Mandi Bahauddin. He is facing charges under Sections 13 and 14 of the IPC for illegal entry and lack of proper travel documents. Badal Babu is currently awaiting bail.
The investigating agencies are still investigating the matter in detail and efforts are on to obtain more information.
