Pakistan Television (PTV) is facing its worst financial crisis, with over 300 retired employees waiting for their dues for two years. The situation has become so dire that serving employees are struggling to make ends meet. The protesters are demanding that the illegal actions of the PTV board be reversed and that medical facilities for pensioners be restored.
The protesters, who include retired employees from Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar, are holding placards that read “Save PTV from corrupt mafia.” They are appealing to the PTV administration and the federal minister for information and broadcasting to take immediate action.
The protesters are also demanding that the medical facilities for pensioners be restored and that their pensions be increased, as there has been no increase in the past five years. The All Pakistan Pensioners Alliance, led by Muhammad Ashraf, is threatening to expand the protest to the Parliament House if their demands are not met.
In a similar case, President Dr. Arif Alvi directed the Pakistan Post Office Department to refund the pension amount of Rs 502,272 that was wrongly deducted from the service dues of a retired employee.
