Pakistan’s aviation industry has crossed a new milestone. For the first time, the ground handling of an international flight arriving at Karachi Airport was handled entirely by a female crew.

After landing, the aircraft was safely parked, the Evo Bridge was attached to the aircraft to disembark passengers, and the luggage was also transported to the launch pad until the passengers arrived. These brave women have chosen a profession in the aviation industry that was previously considered exclusively for men.

A private company that provides ground handling services to airlines says that this is not just a flight operation but a clear change in the workforce landscape of Pakistan.

The next step was to issue boarding cards to the passengers present at the launch and board the plane, load the baggage into the plane, refuel, and prepare the plane parked in the apron area for takeoff again. The most important and sensitive task was to push the giant plane from the apron area to the taxiway using a tug master, which was performed well by the female operator.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the entire crew of Sri Lankan Airlines on this Karachi flight, from pilots to cabin crew, consisted of women, while all services on the ground were also performed by women, and the plane was successfully sent to its next destination within the stipulated time.

Thus, Pakistan has become the first country in South Asia where all the tasks from the cockpit to the ground landing of the plane were performed by women. Before this, all the ground handling work was done by male staff.

Women have made their presence felt in this most important sector of the aviation industry.
