Omar Ayub Khan, Pakistan’s Leader of the Opposition, recently met with Lord Qurban Hussain, a member of the UK’s House of Lords, at the Opposition Chamber in Islamabad. Their discussion focused on strengthening democracy and enhancing Pakistan-UK relations.¹

Ayub Khan emphasized the importance of upholding democratic values, ensuring freedom of expression, and protecting fundamental rights. He expressed concerns over Pakistan’s deteriorating democratic state, citing repression and the weakening of democratic institutions.

Lord Qurban Hussain reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening Pakistan-UK ties and supporting Pakistan’s progress. Both leaders agreed on the need for collaborative efforts to promote democratic principles, strong institutions, and bilateral relations.
