Türkiye has severed all trade ties with Israel and barred its aircraft and ships from using Turkish territory in protest against Israel’s actions in Gaza, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced on Friday.

Addressing parliament, Fidan said Turkish vessels will no longer be allowed to dock at Israeli ports, while Israeli ships have been banned from Turkish harbours. He added that Israeli aircraft are now prohibited from using Türkiye’s airspace.

The Turkish nation shares the pain and suffering of the Palestinians, and we categorically reject any plan to expel them from their land, regardless of who proposes it,” Fidan said.

He stressed that Ankara’s move was a direct response to what he called Israel’s genocide in Gaza and aggressive policies in the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem. The minister further accused Washington of enabling Tel Aviv’s expansionist agenda, saying that “Israel’s plan to seize Gaza, backed by unlimited U.S. support, is an attempt to destroy the two-state solution.”
