Senior journalist Mian Asif Shabbir of Rawalpindi and Islamabad’s funeral prayers were held at his residence, D/567 Satellite Town, a few steps away from the family park. A large number of journalists were present to bid farewell.

The presence of leaders of all journalist organizations to express their respect for their senior colleague Mian Asif Shabbir shows that he was looked upon with respect and dignity by all groups. Mian Asif Shabbir was a well-known, brave and fearless journalist.

Be it General Zia-ul-Haq’s martial law or any undemocratic government, he was not afraid to ask the toughest questions. His harsh words resonated in the halls of power. Mian Asif Shabbir’s three sons are Raza Asif, Ali Asif and Yasir Asif. They lived in this house 567/D in D-Block Satellite Town all their lives, which was built by their respected father, and his funeral was held from this house.

He raised his children in this manner as his funeral prayers were led by his son Raza Asif. The funeral prayers were offered in the park in front of his house. Senior journalist Tahir Mughal said that his wedding ceremony was held in the same park. Today, the funeral prayers were offered in the same park.
